What I Should Be Doing: Collecting Contemporary Artwork

LAURENCE LAFFORGUE, Founder, ArtWeLove

Last September, I debuted this blog with an interview from ArtWeLove’s founder, Laurence Lafforgue. Laurence left a career in digital marketing with NYC agencies to launch ArtWeLove in 2008. The site is a marketplace for artwork from today’s hottest artists, featuring limited-edition prints starting at $15. Her business was born out of her passion for art and the goal “to make fine art part of everyone’s life, easily, enjoyably and affordably.”

Flash forward three years and ArtWeLove has introduced over 100 pieces from contemporary artists, many of which are on display at top galleries and museums. Ali Hossaini and Molly Dilworth are two of my favorites. The company has attracted praise from prominent art bloggers, a host of design & style magazines including InStyle, and been showcased on The Nate Berkus Show.

You can shop the entire collection of artwork online at ArtWeLove.com and order prints of all sizes and price points. There are bios and video studio visits with almost every featured artist, as well as helpful advice on collecting and framing your limited-edition artwork. So if you really don’t have a clue about the fine art world – like me – you can learn about the artists, figure out what you like and how to start building and displaying your personal collection.

If you’re interested in ordering from ArtWeLove, Laurence is offering 10% off to In Good Company members. Just enter AWL4JEN at check-out. Gift cards are also available.
